Modern Plaid Guest Bedroom

Guest Room

My guest bedroom is done! My personal projects tend to take forever to complete since I’m so busy working on other people’s spaces. Kinda like the plumber who has leaky pipes at home. Same thing, right? I’m so so happy with how it turned out! Now we just need COVID to go away so that we can have guests come visit!

Funny story about the design of this room – I actually created this design board for a client. I gave them two options and when they chose the other option, I was so bummed but then said I’ll just have to do it myself! Here’s the design board, modified slightly to fit my space…

I really loved this plaid wallpaper but wanted to be super careful not to make it look country. My style is somewhat traditional/coastal. And you don’t usually think of either of those when you see plaid. So I had fun finding ways to add in the traditional and coastal aspects to this design. The pillows from Jolie Marche are probably my favorite part in the whole room. They tie in the blue drapes perfectly while also adding more textures and patterns.

I really wanted to have a place to hold all of our tchotchkes that we’ve saved from both of our grandparents. And also books that we’ve read and probably will never read again but we don’t want to get rid of them 🙂 So that’s where this black cabinet came in to play. I found it at a local antique store near Savannah and had them paint the outside black and inside white so that the items would be seen better. I love how it turned out and it fits in perfectly!

It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with Rifle Paper Co’s rugs so when I saw this one, I just knew I had to have it! It had the perfect colors for all of the details in this room and its so so soft too!

Can we talk about this fan from Hunter Fan!? If you watched my Instagram stories then you saw my predicament with the fan situation. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the fan that was in there. Except it was ugly :). And I had to convince my husband that we needed to switch it out. So when I saw this beauty from Hunter Fan, it was exactly what this room needed! So I got it, and I love it so much!!
