Floral Big Girl Room

Uncategorized

This sweet little room definitely holds a special place in my heart. It’s my first little girl’s nursery turned big girl room. How did that happen so fast!? Seriously! I feel like we were just working so hard to get this room ready for her arrival and now she’s three years old and we’re days away from having another little girl. While we’re super excited, we can’t help but be a little sad that our “baby” is growing up so fast.

Let me be honest, I don’t think I would have changed her over to a big girl bed so soon had we not needed her crib. She was perfectly content and contained (hehe) in her crib so I wasn’t in any hurry to change that. But when we found out we were having another little girl, I didn’t want to buy another crib so this little girl was upgraded early. We actually already had this daybed in one of our guest bedrooms. It was a Craigslist find years ago and it was black. So we just had it painted and it’s perfect! And don’t worry, she has a rail on the side for safety when the camera isn’t around.

If you want to see what this room looked like originally as a nursery, you can check that our here. You’ll see that we switched her artwork over to the other side of the room to be able to add a mirror. Otherwise, the room didn’t change too much. We just moved out the rocker (also in the new nursery) to make room for the new bed and added some shelves to the other side. I’m super happy with how it all turned out and I hope that it can grow with her for a while. Fingers crossed that she loves flowers well into her teen years!

I get a lot of questions about this little headband bow hanger. This is actually a necklace holder that I randomly found at Home Goods. I’ve searched online everywhere to find something similar with no luck 🙁

Let me tell you about these scalloped shelves…
I came to my husband with the idea of wanting some cute little scalloped shelves for this room and the only ones I could find online were super expensive. So being the great husband that he is, he came up with a way to make them for a lot cheaper than what we were seeing online. We found some giant Popsicle sticks and cut them in half and glued them around a board. It was a very tedious job with lots of measuring and caulking. But he got it done and they turned out perfect! Fast forward to about a month later and I found pretty much the same exact little shelves at Hobby Lobby for like 12 bucks. I didn’t have the heart to tell my husband!

When I was first designing my nursery, I knew that I wanted floral wallpaper. I was obsessed with the idea and couldn’t shake it. This was back when my husband was 100% against wallpaper and didn’t want to fool with it. So I had my friend (Nolia) hand paint these walls and I’m so happy that she did. That just makes them extra special and I couldn’t love them more!
